Co-Design Kit
For Co-design and Public Policy, MA Social Design, NABA, Milan on a project for Refugees Welcome Italia, Milano.
#research #toolkit #design
During a course in my 4th Semester, I worked for Refugees Welcome Italia Milano and created a co-design kit for their Solidarity Housing program which aimed at providing housing for refugees by promoting active citizenship among the local community. In this project, I identified refugee led organisations as a stakeholder along with the organisation staff and the activists. The kit was designed to enable the collaboration of these three stakeholders by filling out the templates provided in the kit, to develop solution to the problem of increasing the number of hosts for the Solidarity Housing program. It provided the organisation with fresh ideas based on the existing knowledge of all stakeholders and promoted collaboration with a stakeholder who had lived experience of forced displacement.

#research #GHELtools #spacedesign
As part of the Social Design MA program at NABA, Milan, I studied environmental design. As part of the project, we conducted mapping of the project area which included the pedestrian mobility, how people interact with the space, the transport available as well as the stakeholders. The stakeholders for the project included residents, business owners in the area as well as people passing by which included a number of students.
The outcome for this project was a re-design of the use of certain public spaces, which were identified based on the research conducted. The main tool used to conducted the research are the GHEL tools as well as interviews and observational notes.

Implementing Social Inclusion Projects for Unaccompanied Minors: Addressing the Challenges Faced by NGOs in Italy
Thesis Project, MA Social Design, NABA, Milan
#research #unaccompaniedminors #guidelines #social inclusion # design thinking
This thesis research deals with the work being done in the area of social inclusion of unaccompanied minors in Italy. It is a study in understanding migration; its causes and the future trajectory, the various national and international provisions granted to refugees and UAMs, the balance of immigration law and child rights and the Italian reception system and its measure towards social inclusion. The research also covers work being done by NGOs who work in this sector and the challenges they face while implementing projects for UAM and the challenges UAMs face when there is a lack of consistency in implication. Finally, there is a section dedication to design thinking and social design and understanding why it is the right approach for interventions in this area.
The outcome of the research is a collection of guidelines that illustrate different aspects of social inclusion, design thinking and social design and brings all these perspectives together when designing projects for UAMs.

Ayra Project
For Design Lab 2, MA Social Design, NABA for The Sidhast FOundation
#bookwriting #toolkit #design #productdesign #fundraising
As part of the Ayra Project in collaboration with the Sidhast Foundation, Uttarakhand, we worked on multiple projects. The projects included a documentation book, an exhibition, a fundraising campaign and product design. I was the project coordinator for this project acting as the liaison between the faculty, university, students and Sidhast Foundation. As part of different teams I worked on writing the book (which included literature reviews and interviews), creation of the fundraising campaign and design of the instructions for the eco-friendly sanitary pads kit.
Throughout this project, we worked in collaboration with Sidhast Foundation, an NGO based in Uttarakhand, India where we received guidance on understanding the context area as well as information on the particular needs of the community we were designing for.
